Facilitation Skills: Crisis Management

Dealing with feelings and behavior can be difficult for facilitators. For instance what would you do if a learner says that “your approach is fine but won’t work in reality”? Or perhaps you expect learners to do well in an exercise but they do poorly. They look discouraged and frustrated? How about if a leaner is trying to embarrass you or trip you up? Maybe someone is argumentative and aggressive and is putting pressure on other learners? Perhaps a learner show signs of boredom and impatience. He is making no effort to hide what he is doing and other learners are glancing between the leader and the learner to see what will happen.

In this session learn what your preferred style of learning and training is and how this may offer opportunities for personal growth in the way you are presently handling behavior challenges in your classrooms. Come away knowing how to establish credibility, manage the learning environment and effectively diffuse a host of potentially volatile situations.

Objective
  • Examine your preferred learning style.
  • By the end of this session you will have identified several strategies to deal with classroom crises.
  • Maintain credibility by managing the learning environment.
